You know... I like to think of myself as a fairly mechanically adept person. This is why it pisses me off when I undertake a simple job and it boggles my mind. This evening I struck out to change the serpentine belt in my truck. Simple enough, pull the old one off put the new one on in the same pattern. By the way a mechanic said he would do it for $25 plus the $35 for the belt. So, I easily get the old belt off without a hitch. This is where it starts to suck. While putting the new one on I notice that I have a lot of extra belt. This is where I notice the small diagram on the finder well that shows the belt pattern. I know remove the new belt to start over again. Three tries and 20 minutes later I finally get the damn belt to stay on the drive pulley. Thankfully after I was able to retrieve my wrench from within my fan shroud I was finished. Even better than that was, when I started the truck it didn't sound like I was shredding cats up under the hood |
